planned to insert a Southland promo here, but they have removed the really good one (you know where that girl asks 'are you a cop' from Benjamin McKenzie and he looks all conflicted but realizes 'yeah, I am a cop because I don't know how not to be) from youtube, hulu and the like. I don't even like cop shows, but this promo has gotten me all hot and bothered. so, here's this instead:

This lineup coupled with the ANTM & the Lost I fell asleep during last night, I could be on the elliptical all night long...or couch. 

Where I Should be Today & Where I Shouldn't be Tomorrow

Today: Live Taping of  the Rock of Love Bus Reunion Special 

I recently received the following email:

Hey everybody,
If you're getting this email it means you and your plus 2 have made it to the final guest list for next Thursday's reunion show!  Here is some more important info so please read it ALL:
1) The taping will still be first come, first-served.  The official audience call time will be 11:00 AM on Thursday April 9, but I highly recommend coming earlier than that if you want to get in on the fun.  I only invite a limited number of people, though, so your chances of seeing the show are very high.
2) Check out the attachment with maps and directions, as well as instructions on parking and where to go.  Send me an email if anything is unclear or if you don't get the attachment, etc.
3) Dress to impress!  Think, Sunset nightclub but avoid wearing white, black, tight patterns, or clothing with logos or artwork.  If you are not dressed appropriately you will be asked to change or may not be able to be in the audience.
4) You will be onstage until 8:00 PM at least.  Plan accordingly, because you will be unable to leave once taping has begun.
5) Please RSVP no later than Monday by 12 noon with the full names of everyone you know FOR SURE will be there.  Also, let me know if you won’t be able to be there and I can let someone else come.
6) The confidentiality release will either be sent in a follow-up email or will be available on the date of the taping.
7) No cell phones, pagers, cameras, food, or drink will be allowed on stage, leave them in your car before taping or they will be confiscated.
8) You must have a valid photo ID that matches your release to enter the stage.
Other than that bring a great attitude and be ready to get loud for Bret and the girls!  It's going to be a good time!  See you there!

"Rock of Love Bus Reunion"

But, being the responsible and practical girls we are (ha!), we decided that taking an entire day off work dressed in 'Sunset nightclub attire' from 11am-8pm to attend a taping involving epic proportions of trashy skankdom would probably come back later to haunt us in some 'I saw you on TV doing the twist in a parade in downtown Chicago / at the dodgers game when you called in sick for school' fashion.  I guess my notecard of questions for Ashley and Marcia would have to remain unanswered forever.  However, being at work now, knowing what I could be doing instead -- I sit here and yearn for that chance to witness live the oh so guilty but oh so pleasurable trash that is Rock of Love.

The Bird and The Bee

One of the main reasons I haven't let the pitfalls of this city drive me back to the ease and comfort of Texas is the idea that on almost any given night, L.A. holds the promise of a chance to see amazing live music at one of its many historical and intimate venues for often a small fee. 

Last night $13 bought me (not including drinks, valet parking, food and... did I say booze?) admission to The Echoplex to see The Bird and The Bee.  Despite being an avid music lover, I always find my vocabulary with which to describe my musical experiences poorly lacking.  Most often I hear myself describe the shows I see in painfully simple and flimsy terms like: 'amazing' 'okay' 'fun' 'lame' 'awesome.' But, thanks to the modern comforts of YouTube and the like, frustration over my inarticulate command of musical language is alleviated and I can happily say...The Bird and the Bee was awesome at the echoplex last night, see for yourself:
