last night Passion Pit rang in my concert/show season with all the boogie glory i've come to expect hope for. you know you're experiencing magic when the band plays a song that no one has heard before and the crowd proceeds to dance their faces off. i had such a great time that upon returning home, i immediately embarked on a craigslist hunt for tickets to tonight's show at the echoplex. sadly, even the craigslist terrain is barren and for good and totally understandable reasons. if they're coming to a city near you, i highly recommend checking them out, but good luck finding tickets, these guys are blowin' up major - destined to be the mgmt of the summer of '09. should be interesting to see how the crowd grows (i predict) between now, through the summer and ultimately when i see them at ACL in October. was lucky enough to have a similar experience seeing mgmt's crowd swell exponentially over the course of summer '08 - its as if you're on the ride with them - giving even more meaning to the music that is already so meaningful to you. ah, now wasn't that special.
